While The Second Coming of Grace continues to take centre stage (and yes, the rewrite is going strong!), today I wanted to take a little interlude to share something fun.
Because Grace’s story may be my debut novel—but it’s not the only story I’m working on.
Over the years, I’ve built up a creative cabinet full of projects in various stages: a few finished scripts, some early drafts, and some that are currently more passion than plot. Some are dramas, others are comedies with a twist. Some are rooted in real history, others in sci-fi or speculative “what if?” questions that just won’t leave me alone.
So in case you’re curious, here’s a sneak peek at a few of the other stories simmering on the back burner:
Executive Disorder
Body swap meets political satire.
When a group of California teenagers accidentally swap bodies with the President of the United States and his senior staff, chaos (and commentary) ensues. I haven’t decided yet if this one will be a novel or a screenplay, but the potential for absurdity, truth-telling, and heart is definitely there.
Going Global
A rom-com road trip with heels, heartbreak, and maybe a little henna.
Imagine a Long Island fashion executive chasing her ex-fiancé across the globe—only to discover that life (and love) might look very different on the other side of the world. Think Legally Blonde with a passport. I’ve already written the first act as a screenplay, but there’s novel potential too.
Two Point O
What happens when you’re given your youth back—whether you’re ready or not?
Set in the 2040s, this story follows an elderly woman who undergoes experimental de-aging via nanorobotic technology (yes, it’s actually in development!) and finds herself in a 20-something body with a lifetime’s worth of insight—and trauma. Genre-bending and heartfelt.
Horatio
Master and Commander meets Blackadder.
This is a reworking of a novel written by my late father, Jim Eccles, about a fictionalized alternate history in which Lord Nelson survives Trafalgar and assumes a new identity. He gave me full permission to reinvent the story—and I’m doing just that, shifting the tone, structure, and point of view while honouring the spirit of the original. It’s already up on KDP in its original form, but a reboot is coming.
Rilla
A World War One drama for the stage.
Based closely on L. M. Montgomery’s Rilla of Ingleside, this play follows Rilla Blythe’s coming-of-age during the First World War. With rich roles for women and themes of love, loss, and national identity, this one’s close to my heart—especially as a Canadian writer and longtime Montgomery fan.
The Shell
Letting go when life doesn’t go as planned.
A full-length contemporary drama about a woman dealing with mental health challenges and the weight of perfectionism. It’s quiet and raw and layered—and still very much finding its shape.
Each of these projects holds a different part of me—whether it’s my love of history, my fascination with identity and transformation, or my need to laugh in the middle of chaos. Some are closer to finished than others. Some may never see the light of day. But all of them help me grow as a writer.
So while Grace is still my focus (and she’s teaching me so much), I just wanted to share the broader creative universe I’m building—slowly, imperfectly, but with a lot of love.
Thanks for reading.
And if any of these projects caught your interest, let me know in the comments—I’d love to know which ones you’d like to see next.
