Hi there, and welcome to my blog!

I’m Naomi Vondell, and I’m so excited to have you here. As an author and screenwriter, I’ve always been passionate about storytelling, and this blog is a space where I can share that passion with you. I’m currently working on my debut novel, The Second Coming of Grace, and I can’t wait to take you behind the scenes of my writing process.

About Me
I grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and spent most of my adult life in Toronto. In the near future, I plan to move to Victoria, BC, to begin a new chapter of my writing journey. My diverse family heritage—Jewish, British, Mennonite, and French-Canadian—has shaped my perspective on storytelling, and I love exploring themes of spirituality, personal transformation, and human connection in my work.

In addition to The Second Coming of Grace, I’ve written TV spec scripts for shows like Bull, American Housewife, and Murdoch Mysteries, along with original pilots. My short story, “The Road to Shambhala”, a whimsical tale about a vegan spider, was published in the UK magazine Wyldblood in 2021. While the story isn’t available online, you can still grab a copy of the magazine’s back issue on Amazon.

What This Blog Is About
This blog will follow my journey as I complete The Second Coming of Grace, a spiritual coming-of-age novel about a young Toronto actress who discovers her clairsentient abilities. I’ll be sharing:

Naomi Vondell

Naomi Vondell is a Canadian writer of literary fiction with spiritual undertones, emotional resonance, and a touch of quiet humour. She lives in Northwestern Ontario, having spent most of her adult life in Toronto and the surrounding area. Her work explores themes of identity, memory, faith, and transformation. A lifelong storyteller, Naomi’s creative path has included acting, songwriting, and screenwriting. She holds a Master’s degree in clinical psychology and worked for years as a psychometrist before turning to fiction full-time. She earned her Creative Writing Certificate from the University of Toronto and studied screenwriting through UCLA Extension, where she trained with industry professionals—including a Star Trek: The Next Generation writer. Naomi is also a caregiver, a lover of Shakespeare and Buster Keaton, a fan of classic sitcoms and naval history, and a survivor of childhood bullying due to her neurodivergence. Her writing is shaped by curiosity, compassion, and a deep reverence for stories that reach across time. She is currently at work on a play (The Shell), two feature films (Going Global and a body-swap political satire), and a companion story collection titled Before the Light.
